Sumapen B 500Mg Capsule
Description :
Each capsule contains phenoxymethylpenicillin (as potassium salt) 250 or 500 mg equivalent to 400,000 or 800,000 units, respectively.
Each 5-mL suspension contains phenoxymethylpenicillin (as potassium salt) 125 or 250 mg equivalent to 200,000 or 400,000 units, respectively.
Indications / Uses :
Treatment of respiratory tract infections, genitourinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, oral and dental infections, and surgical infections caused by susceptible organisms.
Prevention and treatment of secondary bacterial infections in measles, mumps, chickenpox, influenza, and other viral infections. Also useful in preventing bacterial endocarditis after tonsillectomy or tooth extraction in patients with history of rheumatic fever.
Administration :
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals.
Contraindications :
History of hypersensitivity to penicillins.
Special Precautions :
Careful inquiry should be made concerning previous hypersensitivity to penicillins prior to initiation of penicillin V therapy.
Reduce dosage in patients with impaired renal function.
Superinfections with fungal or bacterial pathogens may develop with prolonged or repeated use.
