Indications / Uses :

Depakote 125 mg Sprinkle Capsule Monotherapy & adjunctive therapy in the treatment of patients w/ complex partial seizures that occur in isolation or in association w/ other types of seizures. Sole & adjunctive therapy in the treatment of patients w/ simple & complex absence seizures & adjunctive therapy in patients w/ multiple seizure types that include absence seizures. Depakote ER Treatment of acute manic or mixed episodes associated w/ bipolar disorder, w/ or w/o psychotic features. Monotherapy & adjunctive in the treatment of simple & complex partial seizures in adults & childn =10 yr. Prophylaxis of migraine headaches in adults

Administration :

Should be taken with food: May be swallowed or opened & its contents sprinkled on 1 tsp of soft food

Contraindications :

Hypersensitivity. Hepatic dysfunction or urea cycle disorders. Mitochondrial disorders. Suspected POLG-related disorder in childn <2 yr. Prophylaxis of migraine in pregnant women.

Special Precautions :

Monitor liver & clotting functions. Patients on multiple anticonvulsants, w/ metabolic disorders, severe seizure disorders accompanied by mental retardation or organic brain diseases. Pancreatitis. Hyperammonemia, thrombocytopenia. Avoid abrupt w/drawal. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <2 yr, <10 yr & <18 yr. Elderly. Depakote ER Long-term use. Increased risk of suicidal thoughts & behavior. Hypothermia.
