    Description : Clarithromycin is a semisynthetic macrolide antibiotic obtained by substitution of the hydroxyl group in position 6 by a CH3O group in the erythromycin lactonic ring. Chemically, clarithromycin is 6-O-methylerythromycin. The molecular formula is C38H69NO13.

    Indications / Uses : Treatment of upper & lower resp tract infections, acute otitis media & skin & soft tissue infections.

    Administration : May be taken with or without food.

    Contraindications : Clariget OD Hypersensitivity to macrolides antibiotics. Patients w/ CrCl <30 mL/min. Concomitant use w/ astemizole, pimozide, cisapride, terfenadine, ergotamine or dihydroergotamine, when in combination w/ ranitidine bismuth citrate on patients w/ a history of acute porphyria.

    Special Precautions : Hepatic & moderate to severe renal impairment. Clariget OD Superinfection, pseudomembranous colitis, myasthenia gravis. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <6 mth.
