Make Your Lipstick Last Longer
There’s just nothing quite like perfectly made up lips that give you the perfect pucker. They are an instant confidence booster and can make even the dullest of outfits look chic and classy.
That is until you forget and start either constantly licking your lips or drinking too much water. Yup, the pain of having your lipstick vanish before your eyes even before you step out the door can be quite the pain.
So, here are 2 different ways to apply lipstick that will add hours to your lipstick’s staying power!
Look 1: Lighter Shades
Step: 1. Apply a moisturizing lip balm and blot off the excess with a tissue.
Step 2: Line your lips with a waterproof and smudge-proof lip liner close to the colour of your natural lips. This is the most crucial step as a good and well-applied lip liner prevents lipstick colour from bleeding, while also making a sturdy outline for quick lipstick reapplications.
Step 3: Apply a matching lipstick of choice, preferably with a brush. Sometimes, it’s not necessary for your lip liner and lipstick colours to be exactly the same as even different shades can match perfectly together!
Step 4: Blot off excess lipstick with a tissue paper. Drying the lipstick helps it adhere better on your lips.
Step 5: Apply a second layer of lipstick directly from the tube. Applying a second layer enforces the lipstick, giving you a much longer lasting application and vibrant colour.
Look 2: Darker Shades
Step: 1. Apply a thin layer of concealer and blot off the excess with a tissue. The concealer will help the lipstick stay on your lips longer and give it a slightly matte effect.
Step 2: Line your lips with a waterproof and smudge proof lip liner close to the colour of your natural lips to prevent colour bleeding.
Step 3: Apply a matching lipstick colour of choice.
Step 4: Blot off excess lipstick with a tissue paper.
Step 5: Line the outside of your lips with concealer. Additional use of a concealer enforces the prevention of colour bleeding, a common problem with darker shades of lipstick.
Bonus Tip!
If you really want a lip colour that is smudge, food, and rain proof, try using a lip liner as your lipstick instead. While a little bit more troublesome to apply, a slightly creamy lip liner makes a great matte lipstick due to its high pigmentation. Plus, instead of having to carry around 2 products, you’ll only need one! All you have to do is line your lips like usual, then start carefully filling it in with your lip liner of choice!
So, always remember, lip liners are actually your best friends if you want a lipstick colour that lasts all day without having to worry about a smudge or mess!
