Be Sun-Ready in Just 4 Steps
Worried that the scorching sun and killer humidity in our tropical city will harm your skin and hair? Fret not!
With these 4 tips, you’ll be ready to bask in the sun and get your daily dose of vitamin D – sunlight!
Go gentle
Wash your face twice a day with a gentle skin cleanser to combat acne, which may be aggravated by high temperatures. This minimises irritation and over-drying of the skin.
Protect against UV rays
If you’re about to have fun in the sun, remember to bring along your sun block and lip balm. They should have an SPF of 15 and above, and provide protection against both UVA and UVB rays.
Apply liberally at least 15 minutes before sun exposure, and reapply every two hours or more frequently after heavy perspiration.
If you do get sunburned, use an after-sun lotion with aloe vera to ease the comfort and pain!
Keep your tresses moisturised
Combat frizzy hair with a moisturising shampoo and conditioner. For individuals with dry or damaged hair, apply a leave-on conditioner and anti-frizz serum to your hair before heading out.
Say no to clogging
Use non-comedogenic products to reduce the risk of acne breakouts.
Check your facial products to make sure they do not contain these pore-clogging ingredients:
- Isopropyl myristate
- Sodium lauryl sulphate
- Myristylmyristate
- Octyl stearate
- Red dyes (typically labelled as D & C Red, followed by a number)
